Using Art to tell the story of a refugee.

“A Refuge for Refugees” was an instillation aimed at serving the refugees in Clarkston Ga. The instillation was done with a grant from the AIA (American Institute of Architects) and Kennesaw State University department of Architecture.

Making Tangible Struggle.

In our initial research and interaction with the refugees of Clarkston a common theme kept coming up. The idea that the journey of a refugee is not an easy one, there are countless moments during the trip where its uncomfortable and unsure. As you move through the installation the walls compress and the space becomes claustrophobic. When you further and push past the tight middle portion you are greeted with a large opening and relief space.

The journey can be experienced by the video on the right.
