“The Space Between”

“The Space Between” was a competition entry for a chapel in Rural Rukomo Rwanda. The chapel aims to showcase the strength of unity. The A-frame structure makes tangible the power of two sides connecting. At the connection between these two roof structures, the thatching is peeled back. This peeling back of the thatching allows for light to flood the space. This light is a further acknowledgment of the beauty of unity. The space invites people into an encounter with divine beauty. It is in the presence of divine beauty that ignorance is set apart and a more hopeful future can be stepped into.
